W.E. Bowman《The Ascent of Rum Doodle 》

執緊書架…and caught sight of this book《The Ascent of Rum Doodle 》 . And I just can't stop myself from wanting to introduce it.

This one was an older copy, that i bought in Kathmandoo when i first went for mountain trekking back in 1997.

It's the most hysterically funny book on mountaineering that I've ever read!

《The Ascent of Rum Doodle 》 is a novel written back in 1956 about a group of British mountaineers mounts an assault on Rum Doodle, a neighbor of Everest. His crew consisted of a geographer (who is unable to negotiate the London bus system), a doctor (who is always sick), a climber (too overcome by "lassitude" to get out of his sleeping bag), a native cook (so disastrous that the team attempts to leave him behind on the mountain), and a photographer (who does not capture a single shot during the entire expedition.

And...and... in the end, they actually discovered that they climb the wrong mountain!!!

I bought this book in a secound hand book store in Kathmandu before I headed for the trek, and this book gave me lots of laughter and gigling along the 5 days trek.

So, this book became a classic within the climbing community. And, you don't need to enjoy mountaineering to enjoy this book!!
